If it will all be 'sorted out' why would he throw away his contract?

He was scheduled to make a lot of money, so if it's a just a 'he said / she said' slap on the wrist - why would Watson or his agent accept some vet minimum deal to hold a clippboard. Makes no sense no matter how you look at it.
