First, some covid variants spreading now are affecting younger people at a higher rate than the original variant did. The evidence on that is growing: [ramsrule.com]

Second, people who are less vulnerable do not want to be infected because they do not want to infect others. You get it, you spread it, sooner or later it spreads to someone who gets sick from it, including your own extended family (like what happened with the Whitworths and her father). And the myth is that only older people are vulnerable. That is not the case. People of any age with serious underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes, pregnant women, and minority groups (who do die of it at younger ages).

This is regardless what anyone thinks of voluntary workouts and their value.

The simple truth is, not everyone who is trying to avoid infection is doing it strictly for themselves. They have family and friends and like all of us are also in contact with essential workers at various places of business who have no option but to show up to work. And those workers are of course also in contact with family, friends, and vulnerable people with pre-existing medical conditions.

....

....

My employer recently set up a date last week to offer any and every one of our over 2000 employees to get vaccinated ....It would be pretty simple for a billion dollar industry to get all their employees vaccinated by the time the voluntary workouts begin .....this is nothing more than a power play by the NFLPA and it reeks of politics, blaming it on "covid protocols" is a fuggin joke

Do we know for sure yet whether or not being vaccinated means you cannot spread it?

It does mean you are far less likely to get sick. We don't know yet if it means you cannot be positive for the virus and spread it.

We are still learning how well vaccines prevent you from spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to others, even if you do not have symptoms.

so now that LA county is down to almost a 1% infection rate since California started mass vaccinations, I think its pretty safe to say it is HIGHLY effective in stopping the spread

[abc7.com]

also, high school football and other high school sports are back to playing along with MLB, NBA, etc makes no sense at all that the NFLPA wants to use covid protocols as an excuse to boycott valuable off season workouts....it's a political power move nothing more....they played all last season in the height of the pandemic now that it is at one of the best points since it started they don't want tp show up and get some work in??? okconfused smiley
