We have all joked for years that the "voluntary" workouts are anything but. It's like being an employee and the boss asks you to come to his BBQ. It isn't an option if you want to keep your job and no you don't get paid to come to it.
So let's get around the myth that the voluntary workouts are truly voluntary.
You can skip the BBQ or going to Church if you want to. But are you going to skip going to work when everyone else is.... and expect to keep your job?
I maintain that it is fear..... not fact..... that is causing folks to continue their routines that may have served some purpose a few months ago.
And the fact that the NFLPA is the one that called for boycotting voluntary workouts is nothing more than a flexing of muscle and catering to misplaced social correctness.
A lot of fans are going to see this as it is, and the players are going to lose a lot of sympathy and support that they used to have.
