IMO, the Rams use the Lakers philosophy when it comes to acquiring players.
The Lakers use the lure of LA to sign bigtime names to come play there. They really never use the draft except for capitol to acquire select proven talent around the league.
They pin point who they want, and go after that player and let other teams deal with drafted players and the potential to either sink or swim with them depending on if they work out or not. The Rams success was more dependent on the draft while playing in St. Louis than LA.
This regime has brought that kind of philosophy to the Rams and I'm happy they did.
The fact that they give away so much draft capitol and yet still hit on mid round picks is pretty impressive.
