The idea that somehow scads of Rams position coaches leaving for promotions elsewhere (including promotions to HC and Co-ordinator jobs) reflects in a less than favorable manner on McVay makes no sense. Loyalty? This is a business for the coaches as well as the players. This loyalty stuff is way overblown. Coaches don't stay for lesser pay and lesser positions if they have an opportunity to go elsewhere for more.....especially if their ambitions are to step up the ladder, so to speak (and few assistants would not fit that mold).
I say with conviction that McVay has an uncanny ability to pick up great coaches, whom he makes even better. If nothing else, they take on an aura because of being on McVay's staff. And they come knowing that (the NFL is a very closed loop). The Rams are the new hotbed for finding coaches to promote and help a team (it used to be the Pats). McVay is to be congratulated and admired; not questioned.
