We don't know the history. We only know the public version of it. Either way yes we can find all sorts of positive ways to speculate and/or spin this. None of them exclude the other possibilities. What you're giving me is what you will tend to believe--which is inevitable.
My stance is different. I am trying not to tend to believe anything. I honestly don't know what's going on. But that means right now, to me, the darker speculations have as much weight as your more "McVay is always on the right side" style speculations.
