I think Leo’s point is McVay is cut from a different cloth and as much as we boomers get down on millennials and then get that favor returned, one the the absolute breaths of fresh air that I get from millennial McVay is the respect for his players, the game, his coaches and his opponents.
I’m sorry, but Martz’s arrogance was so unbecoming and if McVay sets the tone and standard of professionalism going forward, that is a huge gain for the game.
Look at the Belichick coaching tree. Patricia is long gone and you have Ashawn Robinson tweeting to him to not let the door hit him on the way out.
Maybe McVay is too nice is my worry sometimes. But if he and Kromer came to a mutual agreement to part ways due to a philosophical difference, I’m not so worried about McVay valuing the status quo over fixes that fit his vision.
That puts his vision into the debate. He looked like he had a good one in his first two years and has struggled in one way or another since. But as we get more data as we move into the future, we’ll be better positioned to debate that vision.
