Play the video of the Steelers GM handling this the right way. See if he makes coy jokes about the question while knowing that the player learned about these things from public statements and not private direct communication. Naw the first thing the Pitt GM says is we've had this conversation with the player. (And I feel like this is a necessary reminder--none of this is about the trade.)

This conversation reminds me of all the times the Rams refused to deny Gurley had an arthritic knee, and some people took them refusing to deny it as proof that Gurley's knee was not arthritic.
