For point one, I'll wait and see on that. I don't take the lack of a denial as necessarily an indication of anything. That might not feel the need to address it because they'll have a chance to get their side out. I'll wait that one out.
As for point two, what would happen if/when the Rams do come out and deny those reports? What then? Who's the liar? We could get into some really fuzzy distinctions here about lying, misremembering, or what have you. Arguing in the alternative, what would be a big deal in calling Goff a liar? Or Snead or McVay for that matter? Having said that, I don't think you can call someone a liar after one fib. They were lying, yes. We'd have to see repeat offenses to make that claim. But I digress.
As for me, I've been in jobs with passive-aggressive bosses. I'm not like that, and obviously I don't care for it (who does), but I'm also observant enough to know when something is wrong, and it seems from those same reports that Goff knew something was different than the past couple of years. It also isn't hard to put two and two together. Basic cause and effect intuition.
It's not really about what I think is right, at least from my point of view. That's not what I'm talking about.
I just wanna know what really happened lol.
You're whole argument turns on hoping for a particular kind of statement that shows no signs of existing. It sounds more to me like you want that to happen than you have any legit grounds to claim it will.
As it happens the Rams DID talk to people about Goff. They gave Rodrigue some "unnamed Rams sources" material about why they traded him. Right then would be the perfect time to say "and we did tell him his standing as the qb before saying anything in public." Why go to all the trouble to leak things and then not discuss that?
Leaks aside, heck the Steelers GM already showed you how easy it is to do this. You just simply openly say "I am not telling you anything we haven't already communicated to the player." Very easy to do. Comes across as very professional and classy too.
I keep thinking about the time they refused to deny Gurley had an arthritic knee. IF he didn't (though of course he did) all they would have to say is "well no actually he doesn't"... instead of refusing to answer the question, or instead of Snead making jokes in a press conference about advil.
