I believe Goff was likely worth a couple of 2nds or a low first, lowered value because of his contract obligations. If the rams had waited, they could have likely received compensation around what Wentz may bring.
Even in that scenario, Rams need a QB and assume Stafford is still on the market. We know the leader was Carolina with an 8th overall Pick and Bridgeford.
Can the Rams still match that? Basically then the offer becomes future 2022 and 2023 1st rounders, + 2021 2x 2nd rounders (goff compensation) and no other player or maybe Wolford?
Lions may not take that offer over Carolina.
So do I think the Rams overpaid a bit? Yes. Did they do the deal that got them what they wanted? Yes.

Now if somehow Watson or Rodgers become realistically available, or Stafford underperforms, then they may have a little buyers remorse. Otherwise they made a bold move to get better.
