But all I can say is something is clearly going on we as fans just can't see. We see Goff on TV 3 hours a week. McVay and the Rams see him 6 days a week, like 35-45 hours a week. Is it shot confidence? Smarts? Questionable work habits? Personal friction? Big contract syndrome? Less focus since the girlfriend came on the scene? I don't have the first clue. But it is already getting pretty hard to see him here in 2021 now. McVay's and now Snead's words are just too....clear.. And now open competition with Wolford? Come on...
In terms of speculating that's not a bad list, IF the assumption is that it's entirely on Goff.
But if we don't know we don't know, and that also means we don't know that it's all Goff.
It could be that McVay is not listening and that frustrates Goff when in turn his frustration sets off "I'm in charge here" vibes etc.
In other words this could also be the coach, or the coach plus the player. Not just the player.
And since we don't know those are equally likely possibilities.
I remember a clip from I think the 99 superbowl? Where Vermeil talks to Warner and says you still have this flaw in your mechanics (I forget what it was). The way the conversation went, it looked like this was something that was a theme in meetings and something coaches had brought up before, and DV was just reminding Warner. Warner's response was, basically, I don't want to hear it. What he actually said was I am just thinking about the game now's not the time. And Vermeil, being old and pretty wise, backed immediately off. It is not rare for qbs to tell coaches, this is not working, or now's not the time to discuss this, or something. We don't know but it's not past the realm of possibility to think that maybe McVay is getting that vibe from Goff. Which again would be normal, unless McV is not able to handle that the way Vermeil was.
I do not assume at all that this is just about a player's issues and this always right coach. It could be one, it could be the other, it could be both.
