Here's a stat that is trending on twitter...
Completions of 20-plus yards:
Jared Goff in Weeks 11-16: 1
John Wolford in Week 17: 3
I’m not making an argument for Wolford being a starting QB, he’s a nice backup, I’m talking about McVays offense and what’s available in it for a quality starting QB, which is what Goff is supposed to be.
I get it. The Rams only scored 9 offensive points and the every other offense in the NFL averaged 25.9 points this weekend.
But how many of the offenses scoring at least 26 points this weekend had 0 pass plays of 20 yards or more?
Wolford, a career backup, showed that those pass plays are there in McVays offense. But let’s blame McVay because Goff doesn't make them. Or lets blame the OL, or the lack of a running game, or no WR with deep speed, or whatever diversion that comes up.
