Wolford made yet another hohum offensive effort palatable. Inconsistent line play, penalties, drops, overthrows under throws inconsistent running and play calling along with QB miscues coupled with some offschedule and also prescribed bootlegs with great results. Wolford was playing with house money and a mandate not to squeze the ball and the pass plays, routes and options demonstrated that McVay recognized that without Goff he still needed to find a way to exploit the Cards and we did sorta. We leveraged complementary football to secure a win and we did not try to sit on our lead. I credit everyone for this result but just like Brees is important to the Saints. Goff is important to Rams. Now Goff is no Brees but he can beat and out play Brees when his teamates are on their A game.
With Wolford we have a viable back-up perhaps. I have liked him in PS but I am not sure if he can build enough from today to carry into next week. We saw more of Jeffereson but still not getting the type of WR explosion I had hoped. It is nice that we did get to see that Jefferson can be more than what we have been shown so far.
I feel like if there is no Goff, I feel like any fan of any other team with a back-up that shows any promise hoping for a victory.
I am not confident Goff will be healthy next week. Its not just the throwing but accepting the snaps so that is where I think we are or should be concerned with. It has to be the turnovers by Goff via fumbles and ints.
