We have other QBs on our roster but I doubt you are thinking we when the key games we have and competed in the key games we have with any of them.
McVays offense is not the same offense any of those guys you mentioned have played in or succeeded in. Win totals don't compare either. Further proof that Goff is better than he is given credit for.
I am all for upgrading our offensive line and adding a deep target or two but the money spent on Goff is not coming back but if we improve around him he will be that much more effective.
Well, that's the point. With the money being spent on Goff, you can't improve other areas. You expect to get at least mediocre production from the QB. I don't see any way the Rams can realistically work around his contract/cap hit so he'll be back next year for sure.
If salary wasn't an issue with him and he could be re-structured or cut, I don't think it would take much at all to replicate what he's done at QB the last couple of years. I honestly don't. McVay has the offense so scaled back at this point, just about anyone, including Colt McCoy could come in, stay out of the way and produce a little to get wins. I know people think it's ridiculous to compare Goff to some of these guys but that's the point. The production is THAT anemic. As insulated as the QB is in the current offense, there are many names that are FAR cheaper that could come in and maintain what we've been doing.
