DV was a special HC and Human Being. As a HC took on losing Orgs and built them brick by brick into into Winners. He was a Rebuilder and a Winner, all his NFL Teams he had them in the Playoffs in his 3rd yr. Some Coaches dont want to take on a task that big as it might affect their overall Won/Loss record. It was incredible what he did in Philly as he didnt have 1st ,2nd or 3rd Rd Picks his First 3 yrs, also they didnt have the type of Free Agency then that they have now making it that much more difficult to change the Culture and turn a team into a Winner. You can see where that determined ethic came from was his Dad as his Father would not be distracted and he would stay focused and see things thru until the very end in detail. DV grew up in Calistoga, Ca and his Dad owned and ran the Night Owl Garage and Tow service, he built Sprint Cars too, and to this day they have the Louis Vermiel Classic at the Calistoga Race Track, well DVs Dad Louis Vermiel was told his sons Team the Eagles would be playing nearby and the Eagles GM was going to give him Tickets to the Game but he said he couldnt go unfortunately as he had to much to do. In his 1st Press Conference with the Eagles they asked him if he could get the Eagles turned around in 5 yrs, he responded I better or I wont be here or would I deserve to be here.
