So your question got me thinking to our Mount Rushmore discussions
So the Rams mount Rushmore might look like
Deacon Jones-Eric Dickerson-Kurt Warner-Aaron Donald (You could easily insert Merlin Olsen-Marshall Faulk-Isaac Bruce-Jack Youngblood)
but who would you add as coach? imo there is a bit of a dilemma- the Rams don’t have a coach with longevity and SB wins or innovation like other teams
1) Vermeil won a SB but coached only 3 years and doesn’t have a winning record as a Rams coach
2) Robinson had a good winning percentage but not an innovator and no championships
3) Knox had the kind of longevity of the great coaches but could not win the big one
4) McVay seems like he might be the one that we have longed to have. He’s young, innovative, went to a SB in his second year, and seemingly has this team positioned this year to get to make another run
I mean who do you select out of that group? I guess Vermeil but he only coached 3 years and has a losing record.
It’s just weird to me that a team like the Rams with their history doesn’t have a clearer choice for head coach
