With Martz as OC probably my fav OC of all time even more than McVay...
just cuz Martz was absurdly relentless and arrogant to the point of a kind of admiration. lol
-as you can see from my sig below!!!! lol
But as HC...McVay is way more mature than Martz ever was as an HC....so, that leaves Vermeil as the closest HC that I adored. I loved that Vermeil always wore his emotions on his sleeve/cried alot...very unusual for a HC or CEO of anything to be so openly emotional....but I loved the honesty of that.
Anyway, great post follow on and I agree with yer favs too!!!!
I think Vermeil is the standard. He was also a great team builder, he attracted player loyalty, he got players to buy in.
The flaw is of course that he tried too hard to convert guys like Phillips and Banks into players.
I would put McVay after Vermeil though McV still has a thing or two he could improve on. But we're not talking bad to good improvement, we're talking good to even better type improvement.
After McVay, for completely different reasons, it's Martz and Robinson.
I agree with you about Martz. As a leader, he was too volatile and short-sighted about a lot of things, though he is still a top Rams coach. When things fell apart with Martz, though, they fell hard.
