Nope, and I was there...

First off, Prothro never won a damn thing in the NFL. He took over a good Rams team that was left to him by George Allen who won 2 Coastal Division titles with the Rams in 67 and 69 before getting canned by Dan Reeves in 1970 and then moving on to the Redskins where he went to the SB. Prothro was a joke of a HC, he was doing dumb stuff like punting on third down and almost ruined Jack Youngbloods career (just listen to JY tell the story). The players mocked Prothro, especially Fred Dryer who would do a satirical mocking impression of TP complete with funny horned rimmed glasses and hat. So please, don't even begin to make a comparison between Prothro and McVay.

Secondly, 2020 was expected to be a bit of a transition year due to the cap hit ramifications. The Rams are probably right where we should expect them to be if not better. But that remains to be seen over the next 4 games.

And the 71 and 72 teams were progressively worse than the 1970 team. I don't see the 2020 team as being worse than the 2019 team.
