I know that he's been used in previous years with the Lions all over the line. But the guy is really best over the Center. Rams don't need to move him around and won't. And for sure he's a bigger and better NT than what we have (not that they've been bad). He's big and nasty and physical, which is what Staley is turning our D into. Snead is very positive about him and I'll take that as a good omen.
Plus, the guy is only 25 years old. He's got more room to improve and he's got Aaron Donald and Brockers to play alongside, which will only help him.
Snead made an interesting remark a couple of days ago. He said that the plan was that they knew they'd lose Brockers, so signed Robinson to replace him as a versatile Dline player. But, when the Brockers situation changed and they were able to retain him, it meant that Robinson would only have to play inside at NT because that's where he excels.
It'll take a couple of games to get him going after the long layoff, but he wasn't injured so his body is fresh and healthy. I predict he'll improve an already very good Dline and it makes our depth even better. And, he'll be a Heaven sent help for our ILBs by keeping the Center and one Guard off of them so that they can run to the ball carrier.
The plan was for SJD to be used at DE sometimes, especially on run downs because he moves really well for a guy his size. They had to keep him at NT because of the Robinson illness. Now they can use him the way they wanted to.
