The most alarming issue is that McVay hasn't beaten Shanahan when they've both had their starting QBs. What should be considered is that Shanny consistently outcoaches McVay.
The game doesn't consist of 4 people, with a coach and a qb on each side.
Last year the Rams had no running game and a problem OL, and SF had the best front 4 in the game (2nd in the league in qb pressures). Even then it was the Rams defense that lost the 2nd game in the final minute.
I just think there's this rush to find convenient simple narratives.
Well, how would we normally expect a team with no running game and a problem OL to do against the league's 2nd ranked defense...regardless who coached or quarterbacked each team?
And that right there accounts for 2 of the recent losses.
