Prior to 2019 coaches who rode in an elevator with McVay were getting head coach interviews. After 2019 it was a completely different situation. The "offensive genius" type labels that were thrown around at will prior to last season are just about a thing of the past. He still gets complimented of course but he's already phasing out just like we have seen with Petersen (Eagles).
So Max is correct that IF the OL struggles in a second consecutive season McVay is going to take a big hit to his cred. Same with his QB, Goff already gets enough flak through the media IMO but another year of poor line play is going to make all that worse.
We can hope right now all that won't happen because that's all we can do. But there is every reason to be concerned about the lack of physicality across our line. This isn't news. Position by position we're definitely trending into a "finesse" look up front.
