The issue is what are they trying to coach up.
Do these OL players have enough talent and the mindset and commitment to be coached up to level of being a quality unit?
I have serious doubts.
The argument for not drafting OL high in this past draft after last years awful OL performance was that they felt good about guys like Edwards and Evans going into their 2nd year.
Well, where are these guys? Suggestions have been made that they came to camp out of shape and not totally committed. If true, and Noteboom and Corbett are starting out of desperation, then we’ve got a big problem.
I will say this, if Goff gets beat up behind this OL, McVay should be on the hot seat. McVay has is to protect the huge investment made in Goff. Look what the Colts did to Luck. If that happens to Goff, McVay is responsible. I said it last year that McVay should have told Snead and Kromer that he wasn’t going to tolerate another year of garbage OL performance. Well, he may have allowed himself to get into the same situation again this year. That is what Waldman was talking about when he said McVay may need someone to hold his hand and fix the OL.
