Well he makes a case so I guess my memory of what I read must be from the pre-season.
I mean it happened because over the years I have always relished the irony that at some point early in 79 some sports commentator treated Slater as if he were a problem on the OL and yet he quickly became one of the all-time great Rams OL.
So I figure what I remember reading must have been in the pre-season. That is he started out at guard and ended up at ROT during the pre-season which is when the reporter got in a jab at him.
