One of my scariest moments was watching my nephew go down after an awkward landing in basketball and instinctively grab his knee. At the ER, they thought it was a torn ACL, which is especially bad for a 16 year old who hasn't stopped growing (the surgery can apparently cause complications in the growth of that leg relative to the other). We all gave out a big sigh of relief when it turned out that it wasn't torn.
