I agree if would be a "good thing" not only for the players and their families but also for youngsters growing up whose parents want them to play or maybe want to play in any event. OTOH being a fan of the Rams and USC since 1946 I would hate to lose that. For whatever reason it has been a big part of my life and one that has been a joy to me since being an 8 yr old kid. But that's thinking about me and not the others. However, I won't be around to see it when it happens-but I agree it will happen.
Truth be told my favorite sport is baseball. While it certainly doesn't have as many 'thrills" that football has there is just something magical about the chess game that's being played out on the field. As far as the major sports it really is the closest to a thinking man's game. I've also done some really odd things according to my family and friends including stopping my car near an empty field, getting out, and just walking around the field listening for the imaginary crack of the bat hitting a ball. Starting an imaginary double play from the 2d base side. Weird I know. Then again, I'm a weird guy.
