In case anyone hasn't noticed certain sports, religious factions, education systems, government systems, etc. come and go.
Doesn't surprise me at all that Football in general is less popular. Some has to do with a culture shift. Some has to do with generational interests and concerns. Some has to do with economics. Some has to do saturation. Some has to do with new things to do coming along that catches people's interest. And some has to do with the sport itself screwing the pooch in its arrogance and tone deafness (Goodell and the NCAA are merely speeding it up) and inability to change to meet fan tastes.
Football is not likely to go away in our lifetimes. But, might other sports (or things that we don't even call sports, yet) take market share? Of course. It's peak is never likely to ever be met again.
