RamsdudeTranslated into truth:
"Later this spring, after
MINUTES of planning, designing
by our crack team of 3rd graders and receiving
MINIMAL input from our fans,(
which we will ignore because we know better than they do) we will roll out our new uniforms
when we feel like it"
There, that sounds much more realistic!
brand, branding and marketing are among the "vital few" for large commercial enterprises. and the nfl is among the global elite few at all things marketing. this includes logos and uniforms.
the rams didn't do this in a vacuum and it wasn't done by a summer intern with some online marketing tool let alone 3rd graders. they spent a $#!t load of money developing it, testing it and launching it. but - 3rd graders do have something to do with this . . .
i dislike the new logo too ramsdude. i have the same pain as you. if they had to make a change i would've preferred they went backwards to the logo i knew as a kid. the old rams head. blue and white. but i'm getting old. set in my ways. and the nfl isn't marketing at me so much anymore. they already did that long ago. the weekend before the ice bowl to be exact.
the rams and the nfl can't afford to go backwards and they're marketing research tells them an aging guy like me will still be an nfl fan, if not a rams fan regardless of any logo or uniform change. i'm simply too addicted.
no, the ram's and the nfl's marketing efforts are aimed much closer to 3rd graders than they are to you or me ramsdude. and the reality is they should be.
they are the future after all.
so instead of how the new logo resonates with guys like you and me, the rams will be measuring how the new logo is doing with 3rd graders or there abouts ......
All very good points GA. I get it and agree with that they are marketing to a younger crowd than you and I, but to literally STEAL the ASU logo is a different issue for me. If they really "spent a $#!t load of money developing it, testing it and launching it", how do you explain the ASU logo likeness? This is the biggest thing to me. Anyone can design a "bad logo" like the one with swirling C but to STEAL the ASU logo makes it EMBARRASSING for Demoff, the brand and it's fans.
I mean how does that happen?!? It's not only about not liking it, It's the exact same logo! IMO, someone should be fired for that mistake. If as you said "
the nfl is among the global elite few at all things marketing. this includes logos and uniforms" please tell me how this happened?
As for the goat head logo, I can live with it and not like it. It does NOT look professional at all. It looks like it could have been created in an hour or two but hey, at least it wasn't stolen like the ASU ripoff.
So, based on the stolen ASU logo and the unprofessionally designed phallus faced goat head logo, it's easy to see why so many fans are a bit nervous about how our new uni's will look!
Maybe they spent all their time and money on the uni design and not the logo! Yeah, that's it!!! Now I feel better...NOT!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
