"If the Rams went all black or drastically changed their appearance, I would definitely reconsider following them"
And that is precisely my point. It's not the 1951 NFL Championship, nor the 1999 Super Bowl win, not Eric Dickerson, Roman Gabriel, not the Coliseum, not Goff, not Gurley, not Kupp, not Youngblood, not Donald, etc. -but its "appearance".
I know you want that to be your point. Your preferred conclusion is there before the question.
But I don't accept the question. Which btw, like it or not, is a valid response. Rejecting the question. Cause separating those things (history, tradition, memory, symbols)( is an unreal question about an unreal possibility, and asking it hides the fact that YES it IS all those things we follow, completely intertwined.
Which is why no one will ever do that the thing you ask about. And to me that means the question isn't valid. They won't do that because everything IS tied together. Therefore because what you ask will never happen, it proves the opposite of what you apparently conclude in advance---no those things cannot be separated, they all go together. We don't follow just laundry.
And if you think about it, W, it's actually a bit (I think inadvertently) insulting to act like we DO just follow laundry. I know YOU don't. I read your stories about seeing the great historical Rams play. I already know you don't just follow laundry.
