My plan was to add explosion, speed, play-making ability. Also, wanted to add some customization to the defense--wanted a player that can cover rbs, spy Russ and Kyler.
Biggest weakness here is the EDGE. Had a chance to add Okwara with a second but choose to pick Davis. I see Davis as a much better player at a more valuable position. If you want an EDGE that plays some this year I think you need to get them at 84. Davis-Gaither too good to pass on.
52 Brandon Aiyuk WR
- I want the big play ability he provides-dominates on post routes. Needs to master the out but I believe that can be coached. Super physical with ridiculous wingspan. Will be growing pains but got our new X.
57 Ashtyn Davis S
-Davis is going to be the guy that let's everyone else be aggressive. Incredible range, and shows good instincts. Needs more time to master the position but I'm going to keep it simple for him. Ignore play action and dont let Dk catch a deep ball. Or anyone else. Predict he plays on most passing downs--first in on the nickel unless teams for 4 WRs.
84 Akeem Davis-Gaither LB
-Love this player. Small. Physcial, explosive, can cover at an elite level. Where he really shines is around the line of scrimmage--hard to block, doesnt necessarily disengage but has such great movement skills he avoids blocks. I see him as a spy, great blitzer, great coverage player. He's going to take away all those easy yards that frustrate the hell out of us when watching the defense. I'd be amazed if he's still available at 84.
See him playing any 2nd and 6+, 3rd and 3+, and alot of teams snaps.
104 Lynn Bowden HB
-Board got me onto this guy. My preference is Antonio Gibson but I'm content with Bowden. He is my third down back. Gives me flexibility to go five wide with a more advanced wr from the backfield. He's proven the ability to grind out yards between the tackles. Also, I would pick up Reggie Corbin--sick skills on that kid but he needs to improve in many areas.
With his smarts really could see him take a ton of snaps.
126 Zach Moss HB
-Dude produces. Breaks a ton of tackles. At first I was concerned with the injuries but he will be part time and I'm only looking at having him for 4-5 years. Great depth and I wouldnt be surprised if he starts. Too much value at this point in the draft. Took him over one of my favorites in Tyler Johnson.
199 Isiah Coulter WR
-Pure development guy. Could be B Quick 2.0. Hes a big fast X that needs to improve his WR skill set. Putting him in a position to learn from Woods and Kupp will be the best thing to happen to this kid. And hopefully the team. Probably doesn't play this year.
234 Derrek Tuska EDGE
This is a project pick. I think he has a higher ceiling as an ILB than a pure Edge. Either way he moves very well and has some size. Let's see what the coaches can do. Plays teams only this year.
