The Rams are not the same as all teams as far as OL goes. They need a better OL than most teams b/c their QB is worse than the average QB when he isn't protected. Hence why I pointed out that only 2 QBs in the league are worse than him under pressure.
Agreed. Simply put...there are gonna be games where opposing D-lines will get the better of our offensive line (whether the O-line is top-5 or not). Top-paid QB's, at the very least, need to hold their own.
But to my eye, early on in the game yesterday (when it was still a game)...I thought Goff received decent protection. He just wasn't very accurate.
I agree that there are times where D-lines will get the better of our offensive line and pressure will come through. And I also agree that top paid QBs
should hold their own.
Unfortunately, we must deal with reality. The reality is, Goff doesn't hold his own under pressure. He doesn't merely struggle, he collapses. To work around that limitation, they need an OL that drastically limits the amount of pressure that does break through. Hence what I label a top 5 OL.
Generally speaking, an elite OL is going to allow much less pressure than an average one. And for our QB, we need to limit pressure as much as possible.
