How do we have a meaningful conversation of any QB playing behind such an OL? Seems downright silly to me.
Then there’s the fact that his top 2 RB’s are not 100%.
Consequently, Due to the above factors, McVay’s play calling options are limited.
So what do we do? Why, we dump on the former Pro Bowl QB, of course. Amazing.
First, I think labeling any posts that express concerns or frustration about Goff as 'Goff sucks posts' seems awfully disrespectful and condescending.
You're one of my favorite posters on this entire board even when we don't agree so I will always engage you but when we start doing these types of labels, it runs people off and makes the board a worse place. It honestly seems beneath you.
Now to your substantive point.
I do think people who are concerned about Goff have factored in the terrible OL. But I'll remind you that last year, when the OL was playing great, there was some concern expressed about Goff.
My current frustration is that he's inconsistent. And that's not a complaint that I've only had this year.
He was inconsistent last year when his OL was awesome. When his stats were the 8th best in the league, I still had some concern about his inconsistency.
Closely related to his inconsistency is another concern that he needs everything perfect to perform well. Great OL, league best WR room, a great running game, a genius HC and offensive scheme, etc.
Clearly every QB needs support in those areas to do great but the elite QBs bring elite production even when some of that support is lacking. A few years ago, Wilson had the lowest ranked OL in the league over a number of seasons. He still brought it. After Lynch retired, he didn't have a running game. He was still elite.
The expectation with Goff is that he would be elite. That is where the issue is. He's solid but I haven't seen special.
And these concerns are more than about this year.
