You caught me, dz. I am guilty of hyperbole with the ‘Goff sucks’ comment.
Just frustrated, I guess.
And thanks for the kind words. Rest assured that I feel the same way about you, man.
We may differ on this, but I see 80-90% of our O woes as an inadequate OL. Compounded by the fronts that have been introduced since the Lions game last year. Fix the OL and we’re back in business even vs strong D’s. IMO, anyway.
About Goff. I’m not calling him elite. Never have. But I do think that he can thrive once again IF he’s given a running game and decent time to find open receivers. The OL pass pro is improving and guess what? Goff’s passing game has dramatically improved. We both know that that’s not a coincidence.
IOW, Goff is not the problem. I don’t think RB is the problem, either. OL has been the problem. And it seems both unfair and a shame to use either QB or RB as a whipping boy when the real problem is right under their noses, literally. Some posters have done that very thing as I see it.
I just wanted to get my opinion out there in the public square.
As an aside, I strongly believe that McVay can and will devise plays to punish D’s that overcompensate with 6 man fronts against the Rams. But he can’t execute these plays until his OL becomes capable of doing so. Whether or not the OL can get there this year in time is the $64 question. Fingers crossed. If the OL can get there this year, Look Out!
