Rampage2K-
It's one thing to use him as some sort of proof of anything...it's a whole nother level to use a 6 year old article by him lol
This is just a "respect meter" and it looks like Goff is getting some respect from his peers
I wouldn't put much stock in any media guys rankings either.... only thing you can go by are things like
Rating- 8th
QBR- 10th
Yards - 4th
YPC- 3rd
TD's- 6th
Wins - 1st
8th seems a little low considering the above
It doesn't matter who reported it, he directly asked the NFL how they were doing it so unless you doubt the truthfulness of the reporting, the article stands on it's own.
But the poll hardly represents a decent sampling of what the players think so it shouldn't be taken seriously as such.
The passer rating formula is about the best scale that there is even though it's got it's flaws. The ESPN QBR is a joke. I still don't understand how they came up with the NFL passer rating formula. 12.5 yards/attempt is "perfect" for some reason.
Maybe I just don't understand the math but IMO the formula should start with 99 yards/attempt, 100% completion and 1 TD/attempt as "perfect". Then work everything backward from there.
Do we know that the sampling hasn’t increased in the 6 years since that article was written?
I wouldn’t make the assumption that it hasn’t as you appear to be.
And who is to be taken seriously? My position is this list is at least as serious as any other list out there.
Does Florio have a list? And are we to take his list seriously?
VinnyB says he thinks Goff is top 7. Well, that’s his opinion. Florio says he wouldn’t even extend Goff and prefers Prescott. Another opinion.
My opinion is Goff is 8-10 right now, with the arrow pointing up. And I don’t think Rams would trade him for any other QB except Mahomes.
Bottom line is we are in great shape going forward with Goff. Complaining about lists is an exercise with no value.
