I hear ya, zn.
Didn’t mean to imply that all media types (and fans) are monolithic.
But when one hears a pundit project a 9-7 record for the Rams, another predicts a 49er division crown, Goff as a 15-18 ranked QB, etc, one has to wonder about their grip on reality, you know?
And fans are fans. By definition, they are biased.
I’ll take the impressions of coaches, execs, and players over the media and the fans, generally speaking, when trying to rank given players.
I don't ever wonder about a grip on reality that way, to be honest. I just basically go "naw I disagree." I also don't hunt out the more negative takes. I only ever see them because people post them on message boards.
When coaches and execs and players presumably speak out, that's part of the media too. You did not sit down and speak with those coaches and execs. A reporter or analyst arranged a presentation and sold it as interesting. AND we have no idea, none, zero, what the MAJORITY of execs or coaches or players think. We just know this packaged sampling of that. Which again makes it media.
"Media" does NOT mean "the pundits I disagree with because I am a fan." It's much bigger than that.
