The burning question I have is why do the NFL players rank Goff higher than the national media, and even Sando's poll of coaches and execs.
From the NFL top 100 list, Goff is #32, and it’s readily apparent that he will be the 8th best QB in their opinion. I expect the top 7 QBs on their list to be, in no particular order...
Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Mahomes
Wilson
Luck
Rivers
Sando had Goff tied with Watson for 12th, while Watson was 10th on the players list behind Goff(8) and Mayfield(9).
The players had Roethlisberger at 11 behind all 3 of them.
Now if you listen to anyone in the national media you will be very hard pressed to find a single one of them who considers Goff higher than Roethlisberger, Ryan, Mayfield, Watson, Wentz, Stafford, and even Prescott (just ask Florio). But the players did.
Just checking social media, fans are scoffing at the idea that Goff is ranked that high by the players. Some say the players didn’t put more than a few seconds into their ballots. I highly doubt that. But I would like to hear a discussion from someone in the media that addresses why there is this difference of opinion.
Any thought on this?
