To be honest? I think the detractors are sincere. I don't think it's click bait (who gets national mass readership attention by talking about Jared Goff?) And I don't think there are any consequences for it---odds are no one but Rams fans notice or care.

I said this before, but in his last games in 2017 and 2018, Goff didn't come through (Atlanta and New England). That's just going to weigh on some people's minds. Now there were other circumstances in both cases explaining what happened, but still.

I don't think the national critics are being insincere and I don't think they worry too much about the possibility that criticizing Goff will backfire.

From our perspective though, Goff has to play well in his last game of the season, something he has yet to do. When he does the critics will take notice and back down.
