Brian Allen won't need to have the playbook narrowed down for him
He is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
He is very durable. Played Center, right guard, left guard.
If there's a problem, it would be about girth, as LMU pointed out.
And, if LMU is right and we see the Joe and Brian team playing some 50% of snaps at their new respective positions during preseason, we'll need to see quite a bit of Edwards and Evans jumping into the mix on the outside. Just not enough guys to go around, and while Blythe can probably go back to playing outside for Hav; there's reason to feel that Blythe will take some reps at center. Neary, Demby aren't really tackles.
With little expectation of risking Andrew Whitworth to unncessary contact, I expect Joe Noteboom to see quite a lot of work over the summer. Working outside and inside.
But it does ring right for me that getting the Badger and Sooner kids suited and making contact right from the get go makes good sense.
If Edwards and Evans do well during OTAs, it could go a long ways to helping us out down the line. I'd like to think one of them could be a find, too.
Is Vinny telling us that Kromer was heavily weighted in the selection of these pair of Edwards and Evans?
Doesn't bother me, but it does go back to just how qualified the coach is.
We're about to see just how well he can coach. Two new starters, and for sure, a need to get the depth guys behind them ramped up right quick.
