Snead has said in the past that he believes you can get as good Oline prospects in the middle rounds as in the early rounds. All the predictions of using 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd round picks on Oline this year proved to be..... of course.....flat wrong.
We'll see if his philosophy proves to be right for the longer term. This year our previous years' 3rd and 4th round picks are penciled in as starters. Vinny B confirms that it's not that the Rams are "stuck" with these guys; they have a strong belief in them.
Naturally, you have to have someone who can a) spot talent, and b) develop these guys. And it sure seems that few are better than Kromer at that task.
I imagine as long as Snead has Kromer, he'll stick to the plan of only using late-middle round and later picks to restock the oline. And that'll work, probably, provided there is development time, time to figure out where a Olineman best plays, and to weed out the failures.
