I bet the price for Goff, Prescott and Wentz will now be over 28M per year when they sign. Rogers set the Mark and now Wilson exceeded that and that is the market price. Just because it is a 2nd or 3rd contract does really factor in that much. If they fail to reach an agreement the Franchise tag is the same regardless of what contract it is. Let teams bid on QB in an open market and guys like Mahomes, Goff and Wentz will be at the top of the pay list.
Oh yes absolutely it will be more than 28 M but it would have been anyway, Wilson or no Wilson.
2nd contracts for qbs just go up every year. Period.
So Wilson or no Wilson, the 2nd contract market in 2020 and 2021 will be higher than it was in 2018 and so on. That's a given. You can count on that.
That's why Wilson got 22 M on his 2nd contract, then Carr got 25 M on his second contract, and then Cousins got 28 M on his second contract. It was all just a simple matter of the year they came up.
