I keep repeating my main points in this thread (all of which I stand by) but here are some different bits.

What is Kromer's history with right OTs?

He was the OL coach in Oakland from 2002-5. He inherited Lincoln Kennedy who played well. In 2004-5, because the Raiders had drafted Robert Gallery, he was their ROT in 2004, and he played decently well there for Kromer.

In 2009-2012 he was the Saints OL coach. He inherited Stinchcomb, who continued to play well for him. He was then replaced by 7th round pick Zack Strief, who also played well.

Kromer went to Chicago as the OC in 2013, but he had a big hand in the OL. They drafted 5th rounder Jordan Mills, who played well for 2 years, starting as a rookie.

When AK went to Buffalo in 2015, Chicago cut Mills, who bounced on the Detroit practice squad before Buffalo signed him. He played well in both the remaining games of 2015 and in 2016.

He inherited Hav in 2017 with the Rams and kept him in spite of Hav's poor year in 2016. Hav played pretty well in 2017 and even better so far in 2018.

In terms of signing him longterm, which is the controversy here? By 2021 the Rams will most likely have 5 key big contract guys: Goff, Donald, Peters, Cooks, and Gurley. Maybe it's 6 if they sign Littleton after this year. That will represent more than 100 M right there. If the cap is 220 M in 2021, and (as one very good argument goes) you devote 60% of your cap to the big contracts, without Littleton that will leave anywhere from 32 to 22 M to sign a few more, which (depending on the contract) could be 3 guys but at most 4. If they sign Littleton it will be more like 2-3 guys at best.

Who will be candidates to be among the 3-4? (Or the 2-3, depending.) Right now it;s speculative, but the possible candidate list is more than 3-4 guys.

I am assuming that Talib, Joyner, Barron, Suh, Whitworth, Saffold, and Sullivan will all be gone by 2021. That means finding a CB, FS, ILB, NT, LOT, LOG, and OC. Maybe they already have the OC in Allen, Maybe they already have the LOT in Noteboom.

So who are the candidates?

Johnson
maybe Obo if he does anything
maybe Franklin-Myers if he keeps progressing, or maybe Brockers though he will be fairly old by then (10th year)
Noteboom will be up after 2021. Is he Whitworth's replacement by then?
Allen will also be up after 2021.
maybe Everett if he does anything by then and/or stays healthy
Kupp
Woods---2021 is his last year

With Littleton, they can sign maybe 2-3 of those guys. With both Littleton and Hav, they can sign probably no more than 1 or 2 of those guys. If they don't sign a guy, they have to replace him.

So as already stated, I trust AK to find and coach ROTs, and traditionally ROTs, and I mean solid ones, are relatively easier to find than most positions, So my view is that they don't keep Hav past 2020 either way.
