I now see the wisdom of this approach.
In fact, I think the Rams need to take it to the next level.
What they should do, is pick the three toughest road games on their schedule and rest the starters for those, too.
Now granted, it would all but concede three losses (unless the scrubs were so inspired by the brilliance of this strategy, that they performed a miracle.)
But it's likely that those three tough road games would have resulted in at least 1, 2, or maybe even 3 losses anyway! So not much difference, really.
And then the Rams would be free to concentrate like a laser beam on the other 13 games, enhancing the chances of victory in all of those games!
In the meantime, the starters would be further protected from injury and get a good rest.
It would be like having THREE EXTRA BYES through the course of the season. Now that's something to dream about, Todd Gurley!
This would be innovation, indeed!
