If Goff doesn’t play McVay’s hand will have been forced by Havenstein’s ankle. In McVay’s ideal world Goff playsz
Goff would have played last week if opponent wasn’t their season opening opponent.
The scheduling of the #Raiders game and Havenstein tweaking the ankle this week dealt #Rams a bad hand of cards.
I think this is all just circumstances. I don;t see anything here that was planned or a policy.
And...start of the season won't tell us much. Oakland was in pretty much the same boat.
Plus of course remember---they are playing the whole defense and a lot of the offense too (Cooks, Kupp, Woods, Higbee, Saffold).
Although McVay is certainly a trend setter....THIS is pretty much the reason behind sitting Goff in this game. It's not some sort of new way to work preseason, its circumstances......
Why in the world would you put Goff out there to run some vanilla offense against some of the best pass rushers in the league without your
two starting tackles???
