That's the thing right there-if he doesn't report, he doesn't get paid. Who could possibly give Donald that advise? It seems like Donald got talked into some fast pitching agent's presentation where every angle of leverage Donald has in the negotiations is cut off at the knees. The more advise this agent gives, the more money the Rams save and the more discounted services Donald provides with risk of injury. Why? He's got a mortgage. He gots bills.
In chess you sacrifice pawns for a proximate end game of taking your opponent's queen or bishop. By losing a year of unrestricted free agency and potential threats of sitting out, this agent is sacrificing his queen.
It's not about the short-term money, it's about getting what your worth and taking pride in who and what you are.
So you take a short-term hit financially...which he can afford...rather than see yourself as devalued and forced into a corner.
I completely understand that.
It's why the Rams can't sit on a low, inappropriate offer and just hope to squeeze him.
...
Well, here again, that’s your opinion as to what’s going through AD’s head. It’s possible that you’re projecting your own feelings into what you think is going through AD’s head.
As to the short term financial hit? Nope. It’s both a short term and a long term financial hit, if pursued. To use 55’s analogy, it’s ultimately checkmate for AD.
And, yeah, the Rams COULD sit on a $21 million offer indefinitely. Offers alone cost nothing and the Rams are apparently already winning the PR battle. It is only your opinion that the Rams offer is low and inappropriate.
The holdout strategy is a lose-lose-lose one for AD.
He wouldn’t be paid.
He wouldn’t be traded.
He wouldn’t be winning the PR battle, either.
All IMO, of course. Lol.
