...So far, I see nothing in Micah Kiser that showed me he will be better than average as a pro player based on these 3 games.
Kiser showed a flash here and there but I didn't see anything that showed him being a quality NFL starting MLB.
It's possible Florida that you are completely right that Kiser will not be better than an average pro ILB but yet he could still meet our needs.
Wade typically uses very inexpensive vets (like Ramik Wilson) or late round draft choices to start at ILB in his scheme. It's not a high priority position in his scheme. So honestly, we shouldn't be expecting and neither do we need a high quality player at that position.
Wade can get by with very limited players. And the expectation should be that a 5th round player will have limitations.
I think fans are more excited than normal because the skill set he does have fits a very acute need. From what I've read he is limited athletically but is also a good run defender with elite instincts. IMO, that's enough for Wade's purposes. If we had those two skills in the Atlanta game we would have won.
But that's what I got from reading a lot of reports on him with only a little tape watching. Can you be more specific on what you see?
Are you not seeing elite instincts? A good run defender? If you look at him through the lens of filling a very specific role and not whether he's a potential pro bowl player, can he do the role?
