RockRam
He was brought here for one reason: stopping the run.
He'll be subbed out on obvious passing situations. Or will play fewer snaps for pass heavy teams that run more 3 WR sets as base.
But he is plenty athletic enough to drop into a zone, provided it's not a deep zone or asking him to chase a TE down the field.
Agreed. But the Rams like to go to hundreds of DBs anyway, in those situations. They move from a 3/4 to 250/2, or something like that. So the two inside backers are probably sitting on the bench no matter how good they are in coverage. Not all the time, of course. But most of the time.
But that makes me think about our DB depth. While I think the Rams have, arguably, the best starting corners in the league, and one of its best safeties, I'm not so sure about things when they play five or six.
I'm a greedy fan. So I hope the Rams can keep building things to the point where even their backups can start for pretty much any team. Yeah, I know. The cap kinda prevents that, unless you hit the jackpot with a
lot of rookie contracts, etc.
