though Snead had had his share of draft busts over the years, last year we did so well with latter picks that I feel this area has turned into a strength of the Rams. There are always guys that fall much further than expected, and I expect the Rams to capitalize on these players. Last year Kupp fell a round further than most predicted. JJ was simply a great pick. I am hoping for more of the same this year. A guy like Crosby or even Orlando Brown could drop to the 3rd rd, the Center Ragnow might be an option. Linebackers like Griffin or Jewel may be available into the 4th, and edge rushers like Arden Key, Hubbard or decent RB like SD guy or Arizano State.
Go Rams
I'm a Snead defender. Why? Cause IMO the record warrants it. If the record didn't warrant it I would be critical. All teams have their share of misses and busts,. but the hit rate for the Rams from 2012 on qualifies them as good drafters. That didn't just start last year. And the percentages back it. I already looked at the 3rd round alone, where the Rams drafting from 2012 on is exceptional. How about the 3rd and 4th round combined? Taking it from 2012 to 2017 and using a high standard for "hit," they hit on 40% (and that's not even counting guys like Higbee who I regard as iffy unless they step up. or someone like Ebukam cause we don't know enough yet).37.5% is very good. For example the Steelers, who are rightfully well regarded as a good drafting team, across the same span with the same rounds (3 and 4), hit on 18%. Looking just at the 3rd round only, the Steelers hit on 20%, which is closer to the norm, compared to the Rams 70-something%, which is way above the norm.
