He was a square peg in a round hole at Oregon. They need lighter, quicker pulling type OL and he is a nasty, mauling, plodder.
Once he gets his hands on you, its over in the run game. He has a good punch and can mirror those outside rushes, but occasionally he punches, engages then lets the rusher off the hook by trying to reset his hands. He also needs to keep his hands higher at times.
But I thought he didn't look too bad pulling on occasion, he labors to get to the 2nd level, but flattens LBers when he gets there.
I like him enough to draft him in the 3rd round, but I really want an edge rusher that falls and grab a sleeper OT later.
The later sleeper types:
Desmond Mason - West Georgia - played at a lower level and has some off the field red flags, but he is the most athletic OT in the draft. Stash him, coach him up, add some NFL weight and you might have something.
Joe Notebloom - TCU - needs to get more consistent and add some muscle.
Geron Christian - Louisville - They play their tackles left and right, in the same game so he has flexibility side to side. Another that needs to gain strength
Timon Parris - Stony Brook - Big and athletic, needs technique work and will have a step up in competition.
Alex Cappa - Humboldt St. - Just needs NFL coaching. Has the tools, but will jump way up in competition.
Brandon Parker - NC A&T - my favorite sleeper, needs time to add strength and technique work, but he's a big framed athletic OT you just can't teach his size.
