As I said already, to a greater or lesser extent, they will always be doing this from now on.
Why? Because they can. Why? 2 reasons. (1) Because the league is predominantly in a "build through the draft" mode and therefore the value and opportunities exist for trades. It's an underused market. (2) Because the Rams already have a strong inherited core of good young players and so adding to them is easy. They are not in a patient rebuild mode, they already have a lot of the talent.
So it's not a case of add guys in 2018, if it works it works if it doesn't it doesn't. And then that's it.
It's more like this...starting in 2018, the McVay/Snead Rams will always be aggressive off-season movers and shakers, every year, as long as opportunities are there. It's not a one-shot thing.
So it's not "win right now." It's more along the lines of "win every year so every year we find opportunities to add talent."
They won't always keep the guys they add but then there will always be others next year.
