And in my opinion for what thats worth, the difference with the past rebuilds and this one is that this rebuild is over. Now its fine tuning and maintaining.
I see our future as a continuous cycle of a combination of drafting, trading, and signing FA’s, Dead.
Never having the youngest or the oldest team. Constant change other than a limited core of star players.
Let’s take Cooks as an example. ..
A known high producer for $8 million per.
Almost certain to be better than any WR that we could have drafted at #23 such as Ridley.
No need to wait 2 years for a rookie WR to start to figure the NFL out. Immediate production.
Cost half as much as Watkins with almost twice the production.
Cost only 40% of OBJ while saving a 3rd or even next years 1st in the bargain, plus without the freaking OBJ drama.
I’m happy with this trade, frankly. I see McVay deploying Cooks, Woods, Kupp, Everett, and Gurley next year. That looks like a lethal group of passing weapons for opposing DC’s to defend.
I’ll just say it. I like Cooks in this Ram O more than Watkins straight up, never mind the salary savings. I’m serious.
Same thing vs OBJ, tbh, because of the tremendous salary savings and not having to deal with his drama.
Our WR corps is not only “fixed”, but is now quite strong.
