Issues of character that affect winning football games is of great concern to me.
If it doesn't affect that, it's near a zero percent issue for me.
I don't look at these guys as role models. I don't have my children idolizing them or looking at them as role models.
I'm also not so emotionally attached to the team that what they do is a reflection of me.
There may be a few exceptions to this general rule but they will have to be drastic.
You do know that the other side of the coin, the people who are bothered by it, do not feel that way because they regard the players as "role models." Maybe some use the "role model" idea (which I happen to think is bad 1950s psychology, and by "bad" I mean it's just this huge myth) but being uninterested in "role models" does not in itself distinguish you from the people on the other side.
Nor do we regard any of this as a "reflection of us."
I don't watch tv shows or movies with actors I detest, and when different Rams act classless I feel they are tarnishing Rams tradition.
I wouldn't care if my kids, when young, saw it. If they did I would just go "see, I hate that. Professional players should show some class." I wouldn't worry that the kids would then think it's fine to throw penalty flags into the stands.
